Marisa and Angelos’ wedding brought together a Greek church ceremony and an evening at The Barn at Gibbet Hill in Groton, Massachusetts. I have known Marisa since childhood, so documenting this day and the people around her felt especially personal.
We started the day off at the hotel getting ready while the guys got ready at the house. Next we met at the church to seal the deal! Greek ceremonies are unlike most. There are no vows, and there is no "I do", and it's the same ceremony that has been performed for over 1,500 years. The reception at The Barn at Gibbet Hill was just as stunning! We lucked out with an incredible sunset for portraits, and Greek danced the night away.
My advice to anyone attending a Greek wedding: participate in the dancing, even if you don't know the steps! The most common dance is called the Kalamatiano, and it's a 12 step line dance. You could also look up a video on YouTube before you go. You won't regret it, I promise!
