Maine Documentary Wedding Photographer

A day to live. Photographs to return to.

Documentary wedding photography throughout Maine, for celebrations shaped around your people and the places you love. A weekend on the coast, dinner at a favorite restaurant, or a gathering in the mountains—there is room to be present while I document the day as it happens.

The photographs I value most make you remember being there. A conversation at the table, your parents watching the ceremony, the way everyone comes together once the music starts. I pay attention to the two of you and to the life happening around you.

We make time for family photographs and relaxed couple portraits, with gentle direction when it helps. The rest of the day has room to unfold. Your wedding should feel like time with the people you invited, and the photographs should carry that feeling forward.

Whether you are planning an intimate Maine wedding or a full weekend of celebrating, my documentary approach follows the character of your gathering: the setting, the relationships, and the moments you could never have planned.

MEET YOUR MAINE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

I’m Eleni.

Eleni, documentary wedding photographer serving New England

I’m Eleni, a documentary wedding photographer serving Maine and New England in digital and 35mm film. Originally from New Hampshire, I’m drawn to celebrations with a strong sense of place and people who want to experience their wedding fully.

I’ve photographed Maine weddings at Broadturn Farm, Caswell Farms, and Sunday River. Each has its own rhythm, and every couple brings something different. I take time to understand your priorities before the day arrives, so the photography feels personal from the beginning.

Outside of weddings, you’ll often find me outdoors with my husband, Lukas, and our dog, Oskar, or making something with my hands. I’ve hiked the Appalachian Trail, and I feel most at home with a little room to explore.

GETTING MARRIED IN MAINE

A setting that feels like you.

Maine can be part of your story long before the wedding: summers by the water, weekends skiing, or a place you have always wanted to share with your people. We make space for that connection without turning the day into a tour of photo locations.

Portland, Casco Bay & the southern coast. A city gathering, a restaurant dinner, or a celebration near the water can keep your favorite people close. We consider travel between locations and make a photography plan that leaves time to enjoy being together.

The Midcoast & beyond. From a family property to a coastal inn, the setting can shape the pace of the weekend. If your plans involve a boat or an island, we account for the crossings and the time you want to spend with your guests.

Western Maine & the mountains. Bethel and the surrounding mountains offer a different sense of place. Kerri and Peter’s Sunday River wedding is one example of a celebration that brought a meaningful mountain setting and a full gathering of family and friends together.

I’m available for weddings across Maine. You can reach out with a venue already chosen, or simply a date and a few ideas.

We begin with the experience you want to have: the people joining you, what you are looking forward to, and the parts of the day you most want to remember. The photography coverage grows from those priorities.

I help shape a photography timeline around your ceremony, family photographs, and time together. For a coastal wedding, that might include travel between the getting-ready space and the waterfront. For a mountain gathering, we consider the light and an alternative for outdoor plans. The aim is a day with enough breathing room to enjoy it.

My wedding collections begin at $5,000 for six hours. Eight- and ten-hour collections include a second photographer, and the ten-hour collection includes two rolls of film. Film photography can also be added to any package. Your proposal confirms the coverage and any travel details.

A FEW QUESTIONS

A place to begin.

Yes. I’m available for weddings across Maine, including Portland and the southern coast, the Midcoast, and the western mountains. Share your date and venue or location ideas, and we can talk about coverage and travel.

Yes. I photograph intimate Maine weddings as well as larger celebrations. A smaller gathering can still include getting ready, a ceremony, a shared meal, and a full evening with your people. We choose coverage around your plans and the experience you want to remember.

Absolutely. We plan for the family photographs that matter to you and make space for relaxed couple portraits. I offer direction when it helps, then let you return to the day. Those photographs sit alongside the candid moments in the finished gallery.

We talk through the locations, travel time, and an alternative for outdoor photographs before the wedding. If your plans include an island or a boat, we build in time for the crossings. You do not need a finished timeline to inquire; I help with the photography plan as the details come together.

Yes. I photograph on film and digital. The ten-hour wedding collection includes two rolls of film, and film can be added to any package. Explore film wedding photography here.
