On the beautiful coast of New Hampshire, I had the pleasure of capturing Jacquie and John's Portsmouth engagement shoot, despite a little bit of rain. This was the first time meeting, and immediately I could tell that they would be so fun! We started at a cozy coffee shop, where their love was evident as we snapped photos in the comforting atmosphere. When the rain eased, we snapped some photos in a charming brick alleyway, and I had made a reservation for a corner table at a wine bar down the street.
My favorite part though was when we stumbled into a hotel lobby and took some photos in their elevator. These came out so good! We all got drinks after at the wine bar and laughed the whole time when we discovered that Jacquie and I are both into Salem and witchy things! A visit to a bookstore added a touch of literary charm to their story (and some more laughs). We really explored every inch of Portsmouth, because we even stumbled upon Strawberry Banke Museum! The street was so colorful with historic homes, and it added a touch of color to the moody session.
We ended our shoot on a parking garage rooftop, where they got super silly and ran into each others arms and spun around frolicking the whole time. Jacquie loved the moody and documentary engagement photos, so I was happy to deliver on that! I can't wait to see them again for their wedding in September!
Jacquie and Johnny both brought a few outfits to change into, and thank god they did! I loved the red dress so much for the elevator shots because it added a hint of sexy, while the rest of the shoot felt more like "them". If you have questions on what to wear to your engagement shoot, I wrote up this post to help! I'll also send you my full what to wear guide beforehand. Fear not!
Also, don't fear the rain. We'll bring umbrellas and still have so much fun, especially in a city setting. The possibilities are endless! If you want rainy day engagement inspiration, check out this post as well.
