Mountaintop White Mountains Elopement in NH

If you’ve ever dreamed of saying your vows with jaw-dropping views and a true adventure to kick off your marriage, this White Mountains elopement will give you all the inspiration you need. Elizabeth and Chris are two of the coolest humans I’ve had the pleasure of photographing—and their day was nothing short of incredible!

A White Mountains Elopement With All Their Closest Friends

We met up early that morning at Pinkham Notch, a popular trailhead in the heart of New Hampshire’s White Mountains. Elizabeth and Chris brought along a close-knit crew of adventurous friends to hike with them to their mountaintop elopement ceremony. Most of them were rock climbers and backcountry skiers, so spirits were high from the very beginning. The energy was contagious.

What made this White Mountains elopement even more special? The trail we took actually crosses over one of the most iconic backcountry ski runs in the region: the John Sherburne Ski Trail - affectionately known as "the sherb." It was wild to see it during the summer months, completely transformed from the snow-covered route it's known for in winter.

Hiking to Their Ceremony Spot

The trail we chose was just under 5 miles round-trip and offered a real challenge in parts. With steep inclines, rocky terrain, and even a massive wooden ladder climb, this route definitely isn't for the faint of heart. But if you're in decent shape and love the idea of earning your views, it’s absolutely worth it.

Elizabeth and Chris took it all in stride, stopping occasionally for water breaks and to soak in the sweeping vistas along the way. We paused at a few scenic spots for candid photos, laughter, and some hilarious moments with their crew.

A Ceremony With Unforgettable Views

When we finally reached the ceremony turnout, it was pure magic. Surrounded by alpine trees, Tucks in the background, and crisp mountain air, Elizabeth and Chris exchanged vows overlooking the vast expanse of the White Mountains. The moment felt both intimate and awe-inspiring—exactly what an adventurous elopement in New Hampshire should be.

There was no altar, no fancy décor—just nature doing her thing and two people completely in love. It was raw, real, and beautifully them.

Surprise mom, we just got married!

This was such a fun and gorgeous day for an elopement, and I love that they trusted me with choosing the location and logistics.

Tips for Planning Your White Mountains Elopement

Thinking about planning your own White Mountains elopement? Here are a few tips to get started along with my guide!

  • Pick the right trail for your fitness level and desired views. Some are easier and more accessible, while others—like the one we took—require more stamina and planning. If you book with me, I'll send along a huge map I've built out over the years with a huge range of easy to hard hikes, beaches, fiends, and my favorite cute towns to choose from.
  • Leave No Trace. These lands are incredibly special, and part of what makes eloping here so magical is keeping them pristine for the next adventurers.
  • Consider hiring an elopement photographer who knows the area and can help guide the logistics (hi, that’s me!)
  • Pack light but smart—layers, water, snacks, and a first aid kit are essentials for any mountain hike.
  • Be flexible with weather. Mountain conditions can change quickly, and sometimes the most unexpected skies make for the most dramatic photos.

If you're looking for a breathtaking, experience-driven wedding day that reflects your adventurous spirit, a White Mountains elopement in New Hampshire might just be perfect for you. Whether you're hiking up with your closest friends or sneaking away just the two of you, I’d love to help you capture every epic and emotional moment.
